Ireland, 1209. An island on the edge of the world. A little gathering of friars start a hesitant journey over an island torn between hundreds of years of tribal fighting and the developing energy of Norman intruders. Escorting their religious community’s holiest relic to Rome, the ministers’ advance is seen through the eyes of a devout youthful tenderfoot and a quiet lay-sibling with a rough past. As the genuine material, political and religious criticalness of the bejeweled relic turns out to be perilously evident, their way toward the east drift turns out to be progressively full of risk. The ministers belatedly understand that in this wild place where there is antiquated superstitions, the confidence that ties them together may eventually prompt their decimation.
